There is no shortage of inspiring subjects

SEESCAPES:
These three seascapes depict Belle-Île-en-Mer, where he spent holidays with his wife and his son, Henri.

LANDSCAPES:
Joseph painted a wide variety of landscapes throughout his career. Many of these works were exhibited in Łódź in 1924. Some were later reproduced as engravings, including Treignac, Lourdes, Skaugumsåsen, and Basque Pelota.
The first three paintings depict Skaugumsåsen, a site in Norway that Joseph returned to several times in both his paintings and his engravings. The landscape made a particularly lasting impression on him.
Some of the paintings were recently restored and exhibited in Łódź in 2024 thanks to Mr. Wejman, a gallery owner with a deep interest in Joseph’s work. Others have not yet been restored and therefore appear more subdued. In addition, the photographs of the paintings have not yet been fully optimized; improved images will be provided at a later stage to better reflect the artist’s talent.
